Moss Out of all the plants in the world, why would I pick Moss? It's because of how unique this plant is. Before I get to the fun stuff, let me tell you what moss is first. Moss are green flowerless plants that often form green clumps, usually in damp places although they can survive for a long time in dry places. A single moss plant usually has a leaf that is only one cell thick. So, what makes these little green plants interesting? 1. Non-Vascular (Bryophyta) What does this mean? It means that moss, unlike other plants do not have the usual Xylem and Phloem, which is usually the main transport system for nutrients, water, etc. in plants. Instead, moisture is absorbed directly into cells by osmosis. Other than the fact that they lack Xylem and Phloem, they also do not have stems, roots or any distinguishable plant parts. 2.
